Governor Matt Bevin will give his State of the Commonwealth and Budget Address Tuesday night in Frankfort and local legislators expect the proposed spending plan to include painful cuts.
Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke says the governor’s budget will have to include additional funds for the pension systems and that means money has to be taken away from other places.
Representative Walker Thomas agrees and says the only question is how severe the cuts will have to be.
Senator Whitney Westerfield of Hopkinsville knows there will be cuts, but hopes education and agencies related to public safety will be spared.
Governor Bevin’s speech will air live at 6 p.m. Tuesday on Kentucky Educational Television.
