The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced more than $27 million in funding to support disaster recovery efforts in Kentucky.
The funding is made possible through FEMA’s Public Assistance Program, allowing the federal agency to reimburse communities for costs associated with 86 projects across the state, ranging from repair to public roadways and bridges, to recreational facilities and critical infrastructure, debris removal and more.
Locally, $5.3 million is heading to Pennyrile Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation to allow for utility repairs, $9.5 million has been awarded to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to roadway repairs across the Commonwealth, and $985,000 went to the Kentucky Department of Parks for restoration of facilities at state parks.
