The City of Hopkinsville and the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County have been awarded a federal grant that will pave the way for surveys of the existing historic districts.
According to a news release, the $22,500 grant will provide for updated surveys to be conducted on the current historic districts and properties listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Right now, Hopkinsville has five districts on that registry.
Those are the Alumni-Latham-Mooreland Historic District, East Seventh Street Historic District, the Hopkinsville Commercial Historic District, the Hopkinsville Residential Historic District and the Hopkinsville Warehouse District. Alongside those, there are 46 properties are individually listed in Christian County.
A comprehensive survey of these properties will help provide current documentation on the historic resources of this community.
