HCC’s Dr. Young gains a new title; Chancellor

Though nothing will change regarding her role and her leadership at Hopkinsville Community College, Dr. Alissa Young will have a new title at the college going forward.

Shedding the title of President, Dr. Young will now add ‘Chancellor’ to her impressive list of titles. This move comes as part of reform legislation—House Bill 619—for the Kentucky Community Technical College System that was passed during this year’s session, which makes it so KCTCS President Ryan Quarles is the only individual that holds the title of president.

That legislation also expanded the statewide Board of Regents and replaced individual college’s board of directors with local advisory councils.

Chancellor Young is entering her ninth year leading HCC, along with 35 years of service to the college, and while the title is new, her leadership, her commitment to students and employees, and her love for HCC, the community and the region remains the same.
