Friday night The Hoptown Hoppers host the Henderson Flash and the Pink Ribbon Network

Story by WHOP Sports Director Joe Wilson

The Hoptown Hoppers return to Tiger Field tonight for an important Ohio Valley League baseball game against the Henderson Flash.

Not only is the game a key matchup between the top two teams in the league, it also is “Pink Ribbon Night” at the ballpark. It’s a chance for fans to support the Pink Ribbon Network, which is a local breast cancer support group.

Kathy Anderson, who started the Pink Ribbon Network in 2007, and Keith Isom were recent guests on The Early Bird Show.

Anderson said the Pink Ribbon Network supports and helps Cancer patients in a variety of ways.

Tonight’s game also is in memory of Ann Isom, who passed away in February. She was the secretary of the Pink Ribbon Network and a member of the 100 Women Who Care.

Isom’s husband, Keith, said his wife was passionate about the Pink Ribbon cause and helping those who were struggling after being diagnosed with the disease. He recalled many nights that Ann provided a compassionate ear to someone in need.

Tonight’s activities begin at 6:05 with several of Isom’s grandchildren throwing out the first pitch. At 6:15 p.m., Scott Colley will sing the National Anthem. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The game can be heard at 6:15 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.

Anyone who would like to donate to the Pink Ribbon Network can send a check to Anderson at 212 Chambers Court, Hopkinsville, Ky.,42240.

Pink Ribbon Network support meetings are held at 5 p.m., the first Thursday of each month at First Methodist Church. Beginning Aug. 6, the meetings will be held at Studio 3 at 201 East 9th Street in Hopkinsville.
