Christian Fiscal Court had a full agenda at Tuesday’s meeting, as they approved bids, business insurance and residential trash services.
Starting with commission and board reports, magistrates heard from Erica Miller, who presented the monthly report for the Christian County Regional Animal Shelter. The shelter, which has come under some scrutiny lately regarding changing policies, took in 355 animals in total in May, with 219 animals outgoing, whether that be through adoption or rescue.
Magistrates approved an ordinance on second-reading, establishing a solid waste franchise agreement with Impact Waste Service out of Madisonville. They will begin collecting residential trash on July 1, with Robert Janes urging those who haven’t signed up for service yet to do so as soon as possible.
The best way to do that is on their website, impactwasteservice.net, with Janes saying they are very busy responding to emails and phone calls, but they’re doing their best to get back to everyone.
This change in service only affects residents of the unincorporated portions of the county, so Hopkinsville, Oak Grove, Pembroke and Crofton will not be impacted.
Brad Bolinger had fairly good news for magistrates regarding business insurance, saying that premiums have been trending downward, meaning insurance is more affordable for the county.
Magistrates approved the proposal for business insurance for fiscal year 2026-2027. In other action, magistrates approved bids regarding the road department, including for petroleum, concrete, road tiles, culverts, road salt and snowplows and trailers. Bids were also approved for the Christian County Clerk’s Office regarding digital scanning and indexing equipment.
