Louisville DEA Office collects over 42,000 pounds of of unwanted medications

The Louisville Field Division Office of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration collected around 42,380 pounds of unwanted medications during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 25.

During the day, folks were invited to safely dispose of expired and unused medications to prevent misuse. The Louisville DEA Office covers Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia. In Tennessee, around 23,300 pounds of unwanted medications were collected, followed by Kentucky at around 15,000 pounds and West Virginia at just over 4,000 pounds.

Across the country, around 642,410 pounds of medications were collected.
