Hopkinsville Police arrested 42-year-old Ashley Wells of Hopkinsville after she was reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol while children were in her car on Monday.

According to a report from police, Wells was witnessed sleeping in her car in the parking lot at Christian County Middle School. One of the witnesses reportedly told the school resource officer that Wells also had an open container of alcohol in the car.

Officers arrived as Wells was leaving the parking lot and followed her. Wells was reportedly swerving side-to-side which led to officers conducting a traffic stop. Officers made contact with Wells and conducted a field sobriety test which she reportedly did not do well on.

Officers reportedly found two child passengers and an open alcoholic beverage in Wells’ car. She was charged with second-degree wanton endangerment, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and possession of an open alcohol beverage in a car.
