Mayfield man charged in Hopkinsville hit-and-run collision

A Mayfield man is facing numerous charges following investigation into a hit and run collision on Canton Street Tuesday night. 

The report from the Hopkinsville Police Department starts that officers responded to call of a hit-and-run around 9 p.m. where a vehicle had collided with several parked cars on Canton hear North Wooldridge Drive and while searching the area, located a second collision involving the suspected vehicle.

Contact was made with the driver, 34-year-old Francisco Gomez of Mayfield, who allegedly provided a false name and told officers he had been drinking.  A search of the vehicle reportedly revealed two empty alcohol beverages that had been consumed.

Gomez was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for medical clearance, and then charged with leaving the scene of an accident, possession of an open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle, driving on a DUI suspended license, giving officers false identifying information, failure to provide insurance and no registration plates.
