Three people are facing charges following a vehicle pursuit in Hopkinsville Tuesday evening.
According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Jovanta Collins of Hopkinsville after he allegedly failed to use a traffic signal, and he reportedly failed to stop. A pursuit began in the area of Belmont Street and continued to the area of South Campbell Street, fleeing at speeds of over 80 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone.
There were two passengers in the vehicle, 23-year-old Jaylen McGee and 23-year-old Katelyn Rhodes, both of Hopkinsville, and the report states Collins put them at risk of injury or death by fleeing at high speeds in rainy conditions. The vehicle eventually wrecked and Collins was taken into custody.
He was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing or evading police, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and several traffic violations.
A search of vehicle reportedly revealed marijuana, multiple checks that appeared altered, a stack of printer paper that had blank checks printed on them, a printer, a laptop, a card reader and multiple phones.
The passengers, McGee and Rhodes, were both charged with first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and third-degree forgery, as was Collins.
