Christian Fiscal Court approved several recommendations from the E-911 Advisory Board during Tuesday’s meeting, along with a resolution for a safe streets and roads project.
One of those recommendations from the E-911 Advisory Board was for two additional phone consoles to be purchased in the amount of $70,000 to help manage the amount of calls they receive, especially during emergencies. Magistrate Phillip Peterson says right now, when they reach capacity on the phone lines, those calls roll-over to adjacent counties—this would let the ECC pick-up those calls themselves.
Magistrates approved the request, along with other E-911 housekeeping items, such as $628 for maintenance on a GPS receiver and data collector, and subscription renewals in the amount of $1,250 and $450 for items such as the GPS real-time correction application.
Magistrates also approved a Safe Streets and Roads resolution and memorandum of agreement in the amount of approximately $300,000—which Amy Frogue with the Pennyrile Area Development District says will be at no cost to the county thanks to funding from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
She says what they will do is collect data concerning rural roads that have high incidents of traffic accidents or other hazards, and come up with an action plan on how to make those roadways safer.
In other action, Fiscal Court approved a bid in the amount $280,874 from Doolin Design Group, LLC to put in carpet at the Christian County Justice Center and their usual memorandum of understanding with the Administrative Office of the Courts—Fiscal Court maintains the facility, while the Administrative Office of the Courts pays rents to the county.
Also approved was a bid in the amount of $62,750 for lighting at the YMCA of Hopkinsville-Christian County.
