A Hopkinsville woman is facing numerous charges in relation to a traffic stop on West Second Street Friday morning.
According to the police report, officers were patrolling in the area around 9 a.m. when they reportedly saw a woman on a bicycle ignore a stop sign, continuing through the intersection of South Fowler without stopping and while going against the flow of traffic. A traffic stop was initiated.
The driver of the bicycle, later identified as 26-year-old Emily Eiland of Hopkinsville, allegedly would not give officers her full name during the traffic stop and when officers went to cuff her, she allegedly began to flee on foot. A taser was deployed to bring her into custody.
She allegedly continued to struggle with officers, at one point allegedly trying to grab the taser away from them. Investigation determined that she had three active warrants for her arrest and allegedly had methamphetamine on her person.
She was arrested and charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and disregarding a stop sign.
