Soda shop grand opening brings retro touch to Hopkinsville

Peggy Ray’s Soda Shop hosted a ribbon cutting kicking off their grand opening and first official day of business to the community on Friday.

The Soda Shop owned by Paige York of Hopkinsville, transports guests to the 1950s with checkboard flooring, a music playing jukebox and food and beverage items that York says are reminiscent of a diner menu from the era.

Along with diner essential such as hotdogs, hamburgers and soda floats, York says they have loaded fries, BLTs, milkshakes, banana split sundaes and much more. Patrons will also have the option to dine inside or at the Soda Shop’s outdoor patio space.

York says she wanted to bring a retro flare to Hopkinsville, and felt as though the community would enjoy a new mom and pop eatery to dine at.

York says it took her and team around three months to establish menu items, design the interior and hire staff for the Soda Shop. With her vision brought to life, York says she’s excited to serve the community.

Peggy Ray’s Soda Shop is open Monday to Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 499 North Drive. More information about the Soda Shop can be found on Facebook at Peggy Ray’s Soda Shop.
