Today is set to be a historic day for medical marijuana advocates in Kentucky.
Governor Andy Beshear has said he will sign a bill today legalizing the drug for medical purposes.
The Kentucky House gave the measure final passage yesterday on the 30th and final day of the General Assembly.
Beshear has been advocating for medical marijuana since early in his term. It will come into effect until 2025 at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the governor says he’ll also sign House Bill 551, which legalizes mobile sports betting in Kentucky, with tax proceeds to go the commonwealth’s pension systems.
Medical marijuana received final approval in the House yesterday and sports gambling in the Senate.
