The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has ordered the closure of a bridge on Jones Creek Spur in extreme southwestern Trigg County in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.
According to a news release, a routine inspection of the Jones Creek Bridge found issues with the substructure and the bridge will remain closed until further notice.
A review of the bridge inspection report by the KYTC Division of Maintenance noted, “After review of the condition and analysis or changes in the weight carrying capacity of the subject structure by the bridge preservation analysis staff, this office has determined that the posting level for the following bridge should be to close the bridge to all vehicles due to the condition of the substructure.”
The bridge is immediately north of the KY-TN State Line in the southwestern corner of Trigg County—Jones Creek Spur connects to Rushing Creek Road in Tennessee.
Land Between the Lakes will post appropriate Road Closed signage and barricade the bridge until a repair or replacement plan can be developed.
