Governor Andy Beshear has declared a state of emergency for the national baby formula shortage to prevent price gouging and he is noting the six-month anniversary of the December deadly tornadoes.
Governor Beshear says the emergency declaration gives the state recourse to deal with price gougers and anyone seeing gouging should call the Attorney General’s Office.
Friday marks the six-month anniversary of the December 10 tornado outbreak that killed 81 Kentuckians and Governor Beshear says he’ll be in Mayfield to celebrate some of the first newly-rebuilt homes.
Over $52 million has been raised for the Team Western Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund and about $26 million has been dispersed.
Dawson Springs is receiving another $1.2 million in SAFE funds for recovery efforts, Muhlenberg County is getting $176,000 and Mayfield Electric and Water another $15 million.
The governor also announced he’s filed a request with the EPA for a waiver to temporarily stop the requirement for gas stations in the Louisville area to use a more expensive reformulated gasoline in the summer that reduces pollution.
