The second suspect arrested in connection with the 2006 killing of Roscoe Mayes on Greenville Road was arraigned in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon.
Lashanda Person, also known as Lashanda Bell, appeared alongside public defender Doug Moore, who informed the court that Person intends to hire private counsel but has not yet retained someone. For the time being, Moore entered a not-guilty plea on her behalf.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling says it’s likely there will be a third co-defendant in the case but that person has not yet been taken into custody.
Regina Vause is another co-defendant charged in connection with the death of Mayes, also charged with murder and first-degree robbery. A pretrial hearing was set for June 15, which is when Vause is also set to reappear in court.
The Christian County Sheriff’s Office says an autopsy determined Mayes died from blunt force trauma.
