One day after being acquired in a trade from the Oakland Athletics, first baseman Matt Olson has signed an eight year, $168 million dollar contract with the Atlanta Braves. The deal will run through the 2029 season.

NFL

ESPN reports the contract quarterback Aaron Rodgers signed with the Green Bay Packers assures he will be with the team at least for two years. The deal is essentially a three-year, $150 million deal that also includes two voidable years in 2025 and 2026 that help for salary-cap purposes, according to a copy of the contract.

Golf

Henrik Stenson has been named Europe’s Ryder Cup captain for next year’s event to be held in Rome. The 45-year-old Swede has made five appearances in the event as a player, winning three times. Stenson was a vice-captain under Padraig Harrington for Europe’s 19-9 defeat to the United States at Whistling Straits last September.
