Man arrested on burglary charge Saturday night

A Hopkinsville man was arrested on a burglary charge Saturday night after he allegedly forced his way inside the home of his ex-girlfriend on Bryan Street.

An arrest citation for 48-year old Nathaniel Nelson alleges he bang on the storm door of the victim’s home after she refused to take his calls and that he forced it open when she wouldn’t allow him in.

The victim struck Nelson on the face with a Christmas ornament, causing a small cut to his face, and the victim’s finger was injured by being slammed in the door during the altercation.

Nelson was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of his injury and then lodged in the Christian County Jail for second-degree burglary and public intoxication.

The police report says Nelson was manifestly under the influence of alcohol—as he had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.
