Ky. reports record 13,492 COVID cases, 28.61 percent positivity rate

The omicron variant of COVID-19 continues to break records in Kentucky, as Governor Andy Beshear reported 13,492 new cases Friday.

Along with that new record, there was a new record for the positivity rate, which is now at 28.61 percent—there were also 39 new deaths, with Governor Beshear urging people to get the booster shot if they haven’t yet, and that now is the time to get vaccinated if you remain undecided.

Governor Beshear once again visited western Kentucky communities that were devastated by the December 10 and 11 tornadoes, this time accompanied by First Lady Jill Biden, who reaffirmed to those victims that the federal government will aid them in recovery efforts.

There are currently 2,126 individuals in the hospital with COVID-19, 466 in the ICU and 226 on a ventilator.
