CCPS, HCC closed Monday following weekend severe weather

Christian County Public Schools will now be closed Monday in the wake of the devastating weekend storms.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel says, “Monday allows us to reset and focus on the welfare, the feeding and the resources for our families and community in the wake of the storm carnage. I am humbled by the generosity and active-care our community consistently provides each other in times of need.”

The district will operate five satellite feeding sites at the four-way stop in Lafayette, at the old Lacy school, Crofton Elementary School, the old Pembroke school and the Oak Grove Community Center.

Family resource and youth service centers will provide sundries, supplies and services for students and the communities at each CCPS school between 8 a.m. and 3p.m.

Pembroke students can receive services at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, South Christian students can receive services at Christian County Middle School and Crofton students can receive services at Sinking Fork Elementary.

Pembroke Elementary will remain closed for the next five days to repair the storm damage. South Christian Elementary and Crofton Elementary Schools were not damaged by the storm, but both schools are without power. South Christian and Crofton Elementary Schools will open once power is restored.

There is no Non-Traditional Instruction for all CCPS schools closed this week. This week’s missed school days will not be added to the school calendar.
