Man fatally struck by train in Hopkinsville

Multiple railroad crossings were closed overnight in downtown Hopkinsville after the body of a man who had been struck by a train was located near the 13th Street crossing.

CSX notified ECC of a body near the tracks about 1 a.m. and Hopkinsville Police Sgt. Tony Sierra described the victim as an older white male, though his identity is not known.

Sierra says it’s believed the victim may have been struck by an earlier train, but nobody was aware until the train that reported him came through.

All railroad crossings in Hopkinsville have since reopened and investigation is ongoing to determine the man’s identity.
