Leaders of the United Way of the Pennyrile’s annual fundraising campaign gave an update to the Hopkinsville Rotary and Kiwanis clubs Thursday.
With a theme of “Baking a Difference,” representatives of the United Way, Rotary and Kiwanis decorated their own cakes in a contest that ended with each cake going on the auction block to raise money for the campaign.
Former Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp co-chairs this year’s campaign with Brooke Jung and says the United Way is so important because it supports 19 agencies that serve so many people in Christian, Todd, Trigg and Caldwell counties.
The various division chairs gave their own reports with a few businesses and agencies having already completed their campaigns. Kemp says $193,586 has already been raised toward the $750,000 goal.
HWEA has already given $33,000 and Jennie Stuart is likely to have another successful campaign as the hospital has committed to matching what their employees give.
