Several local agencies are recipients of a Kentucky Victims of Crime Act grants.
Governor Andy Beshear announced the 132 recipients of the $29 million in total funding Thursday.
The Christian County Attorney’s Office is getting $64,000 that John Soyars says will be used for their victim advocate.
Just over $93,000 was awarded to the Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center that provides help to child victims of sexual abuse and Executive Director Candra Barnett says the money will be used for its client services—especially advocacy for victims and their families.
She says the grant funding is integral to maintaining their programming.
The Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center is mostly funded by grants, but Barnett says they’re also a partner agency for the United Way of the Pennyrile.
Sanctuary, Inc. received just under $340,000 and Executive Director Heather Lancaster says that money is used for outreach services in all nine counties that they serve.
