Louisville woman wins final Shot at a Million drawing

A Louisville woman is Kentucky’s final “Shot at a Million” winner of a million dollars for getting vaccinated.

Mary Mattingly was safely traveling in South Dakota when she learned she won the money and she encouraged all Kentuckians to get the shot to protect themselves and their families.

Several young folks were also awarded full scholarships to a public state university for getting vaccinated, with none of those winners from Western Kentucky.

Governor Andy Beshear joined her in imploring Kentuckians to get vaccinated, noting more than half of the state’s hospitals are now in a critical staffing shortage.

He says the hospital situation in Kentucky is the worst it’s been since the beginning of the pandemic.

Another 8,000 Kentuckians were vaccinated Thursday and about 2.5 million have been vaccinated since the shots became available.
