The Guthrie Police Department is welcoming a new officer after 25 law enforcement officers from agencies across the state have graduated the basic training academy.
According to a news release, the graduates of Class 517 received 800 hours of recruit-level instruction over 20 weeks and major training areas included patrol procedures, defensive tactics, criminal law, firearms, criminal investigations, cultural awareness, bias related crimes and tactical responses to crisis situations.
Officer Dennis Brown was selected as the class leader during the academy and will join the officers at the Guthrie Police Department.
