Two teens injured after car hits tree, home on West Seventh St.

Two teenagers were injured Saturday morning after their vehicle left West Seventh Street and struck a tree a and a home.

A few minutes after 2:30 a.m. an eastbound vehicle driven by 15-year old Kenji White of Hopkinsville left West Seventh between South Fowler Avenue and South McPherson Street, according to the Hopkinsville police collision report.

The car went over the sidewalk, struck bushes and hit a tree, causing a large portion to fall onto the roof of a home.

The vehicle then struck the corner of a home at 922 West Seventh.

White and his passenger, 14-year old Andrew Banks of Hopkinsville, had to be extricated from the car by police and the fire department.

Both were taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, with White sustaining a dislocated hip and Banks treated for a laceration to his head and then released.

The report says the keys to the vehicle were taken from a mother of one of the boys without her permission and witnesses told police they had been traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.

The home sustained serious damage from the crash, with police saying it created a hole in the residence.
