Risk continues for severe weather this evening, overnight, Tuesday afternoon

There is a slight risk for severe weather tonight and early Tuesday morning for the Pennyrile region of Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee.

The National Weather Service in Paducah hosted a conference call with local media and emergency managers Monday morning, with Meteorologist Dan Spaeth saying most storms will be in the late evening or overnight hours and flash flooding isn’t out of the question in our area.

There could be two waves of precipitation and the first could zap the atmosphere of instability, creating some uncertainties about when the worst of the weather will materialize and if it will be severe.

All of Trigg and a portion of Christain County is under the enhanced risk, Todd is in the slight risk area and the risk is highest the farther west you go.

The Southern Pennyrile Region is under a slight risk again for severe weather Tuesday afternoon, though there are also a lot of questions about that timeframe.

Damaging winds, heavy rain and large hail will be the primary threats with the evening and overnight storms and the weather service is reiterating the importance of having a way to receive weather warnings while you are asleep.
