Hopkinsville police arrested a local man Tuesday night after he allegedly strangled his step-daughter during a dispute on Brock Avenue.
The juvenile victim reportedly told police her step-father, 64-year old Dennis Stepp of Hopkinsville, grabbed her by the throat with both hands and strangled her until she almost passed out during a dispute.
An arrest citation says Stepp admitted to placing his hands around her throat, but said he did it to keep her away from him.
Police say the victim had visible red marks on her neck and shoulder.
Stepp was arrested and charged with first-degree strangulation.
