Arraignment held for East First Street murder suspect

Arraignment was held Wednesday morning in Christian Circuit Court for the suspect charged with the August 14 shooting death of 39-year old Tiffany Hinton Gray on East First Street.

Defense attorney Doug Moore entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Tyreese Hollowell to a murder charge.

Moore says there is a large amount of evidence to copy and go over in the case.

The Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office is still closed to the public after a positive COVID-19 test, but assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jerad Smith says Moore can enter the building with an appointment to make copies of the evidence.

Moore is requesting that Hollowell’s $1 million bond be reduced, asserting there was evidence at the scene showing it could have been someone else who fired the shot that killed Gray.

Hollowell is also charged with first-degree assault in connection with the shooting that also sent 17-year old Kanina Willingham to a Nashville hospital with severe injuries.

Judge John Atkins set a bond hearing for November 9 and another pre-trial conference for November 25.
