A trial date could be set next month for former Hopkinsville High School band director Seth Peveler, who is charged with rape, and former assistant commonwealth’s attorney Hannah Peveler—who’s accused of tampering with a witness in the case.
Special Commonwealth’s Attorney Dennis Faust told special Judge James Jameson Tuesday afternoon that plea offers have been extended to the Pevelers and he requested a hearing next month when a trial date could be set if discussions aren’t fruitful.
Judge Jameson scheduled a September 17 hearing and will begin communications with officials at the Christian County Justice Center by then to find open trial dates on the calendar if it’s determined there’s a need.
Seth Peveler is the former Hopkinsville High School band director accused of having multiple sexual encounters with students at his home and at the school in 2017 and 2018. He is charged with four counts of third-degree rape, four counts of third-degree sodomy and one count of unlawful transaction with a minor.
Hannah Peveler is accused of attempting to convince a witness to avoid testifying in an official court proceeding with intent to influence the outcome in the potential case. She is charged with three counts of tampering with a witness.
