Ky. gains 778 COVID-19 cases, sees decrease in positivity rate

Kentucky gained 778 additional cases of COVID-19, according to Governor Andy Beshear, who also announced four new deaths.

The positivity rate decreased once again, down to 5.43 percent—approximately 629,706 coronavirus tests have been performed in Kentucky so far. Governor Beshear says while it’s good the rate is down, the state is still seeing too many cases, with the 778 new cases putting the overall total at 30,151. He says it appears the data is on track to show Kentucky entering a plateau, but everyone must keep working on bringing those case numbers down.

Twenty-three of the newly reported cases were from children ages 5 and younger. He reported four new deaths, which brings the overall total since the pandemic began up to 735.

Tennessee continues to see high numbers of new cases, gaining 3,088 from Thursday to Friday, bumping their overall total up to 105,959, and the Volunteer State gained 27 deaths, up to 1,060.  Montgomery County gained 78 cases, Robertson County gained 35 and Stewart County gained two new cases.
