November City Council races set up after primary results released

Longtime Ward 9 Hopkinsville City Councilmember Patricia Bell narrowly won another term in her Democratic primary and races are set in the other 11 wards for November.

Final results released Tuesday show Bell defeated Ardell Owens by a 176-149 margin and there are no Republican or independent opponents in November.

Incumbent Ward 1 Councilman Darvin Adams defeated former councilman Thomas Grant by a 156-67 tally and faces Republican Natasha Francis in the general election.

Former councilmember Paula Knight edged out Kenneth Hatzakorzian by 12 votes for the Democratic nomination in Ward 6 and she’ll meet Republican Travis Martin in the general election.

The Ward 7 Republican primary went to former councilman Richard Covington, who defeated local realtor Dustin Gilbert by 50 votes. Covington will face incumbent Democrat Terry Parker in November.

Republican Steve Keel won his Ward 10 city council primary over Robert Almy by a 76-31 vote and squares off with incumbent Democrat Jimmy Dossett.

In the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in Christian County, Charles Booker got 2,656 votes compared to 1,905 for Amy McGrath.
