Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear is calling on Louisville Metro Police to release body camera footage of the fatal shooting during Sunday night’s Louisville police brutality protest.
He’s asking LMPD to release the footage as quickly as possible, so the people of Kentucky can decide if it was justified. Police say they were fired upon and a man was killed when officers returned fire. Beshear announced Kentucky State Police is now investigating the incident, LMPD and the National Guard’s involvement.
He says he also spoke to Representative Charles Booker about being hit by tear gas without any provocation from demonstrators around him. Governor Beshear says he will investigate the use of force being used by police and will ensure law enforcement is not being too aggressive before curfews take effect.
