A Kuttawa man was killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Marshall County Monday on I-24 and Kentucky State Police is investigating.
According to a news release, troopers responded to the 28-mile marker of I-24 around 11:30 a.m. for reports of a collision with injuries. Investigation determined that a vehicle driven by 79-year old Larry Humphrey of Kuttawa was heading eastbound on I-24 when for an unknown reason, his vehicle went into the westbound lanes. His truck collided with a truck operated by 63-year old Robert Medley of Springfield, Kentucky.
Humphrey was transported to Marshall County Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Medley was treated for injuries to his face and arms at the scene, but refused transportation.
Two other motorists traveling westbound behind Medley struck debris from the collision. Both Humphrey and Medley were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision. The westbound lanes of Interstate 24 were shut down for approximately 4 hours.
