Ky. COVID-19 case originated in Harrison County

Kentucky’s first coronavirus case originated in Harrison County.

Governor Andy Beshear provided that update Saturday, saying that patient remains quarantined at a hospital in Lexington.

He expects additional cases in Harrison County and urged residents there to cancel social gatherings and for nursing homes in Harrison County to not allow visitors for the next week.

The overall threat of coronavirus to Kentuckians remains low, according to health officials.

Most importantly, Governor Beshear is reminding Kentuckians to continue practicing good hand-washing practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses.

The county seat of Harrison County is Cynthiana and it is located about 45 miles northeast of Lexington.
