After over a year of anticipation, and major renovations, the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County are finally set to reopen to the public.
According to a news release, the grand reopening of the Pennyroyal Area Museum will be February 27. The building renovation is in its final phases, and designers plan to begin installation of the new exhibition near the end of January. More information about exact plans for the reopening will be unveiled at a later date.
There’s also still time to donate to their capital campaign, which is helping to cover the cost of the renovations, and get a sneak peek of the building before the public does with a preview party. Call the museum at 270-887-4270 for more information or to make a contribution.
The Woody Winfree Fire Transportation Museum, which had been operating as their base of operations during the renovation, will close in the meantime as the staff focus on completely the exhibit.
The renovations on the museum began in spring of 2018, and although it experienced some delays and unexpected complications, the community is ready to welcome it back.
