Hundreds of community members paid their respects with a large procession and graveside service at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West Tuesday for United States Air Force veteran Curtis Cooper of Cadiz.
The 68-year old Cooper passed away September 19 with no surviving family members—but that didn’t stop large crowds from showing their love and respect for the man who served in the Armed Forces many years ago, before he was honorably discharged. Richard Stanley says Cooper served for three years as a Fuels Specialist and received many honors.
Stanley says the life of a service member is an ironic one—they sacrifice many things in order to protect both their country, and the freedoms of those who live within it.
The service for Cooper was complete with full military honors, with the folded American flag presented to his close friends that he leaves behind. Members of the Trigg County High School football team were pallbearers and Cooper was remember by the many veterans, officials, Fort Campbell soldiers and citizens who attended the services.
