Rand Paul talks military, funding, impeachment inquiry

The Christian County Chamber of Commerce Military and Governmental Affairs Committees got a visit from United States Senator Rand Paul Tuesday, who discussed funding and other topics.

Members of the committees presented Senator Paul with their concerns about Fort Campbell possibly losing future funding, and especially focused on the funding that has already been reallocated.  Around $63 million that was originally designated for construction of a new middle school on post has been diverted to help pay for President Trump’s border wall.

Senator Paul says that is something he voted against the President on and Congress intends to work on getting that amount back in the military construction funds.

Paul is focused on trying to reign in the national debt, which includes his Pennies Plan to adjust government spending.

On the subject of the impeachment inquiry of the President, Senator Paul says he hasn’t seen anything he considers to be an impeachable offense.

Many other subjects were discussed, including the income tax in Kentucky and how it affects military families, tariffs and the trade war, and possible federal grant funding.
