Hoptown splits doubleheader at Henderson

The Hoptown Hoppers and Henderson Flash split a doubleheader Thursday night and the results have left Hoptown right where it started the day – a half game back of the Flash for first place in the Ohio Valley League Standings. 

In the first game Thursday, Dom Hartman had three hits, including a home run, and Ryan McCartan drove in three runs and the Hoppers defeated the Flash 8-4. 

Former Christian County High School star Gage Montes, who was celebrating his 19th birthday, pitched six innings and scattered six hits and struck out five to get the win. 

Former Hopkinsville High School star Gavin Powell also collected two hits for the Hoppers. 

In the nightcap, the Flash scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning and held off the Hoppers 7-4. 

Evan Jacob and Gabe Eddington each had a pair of hits to lead Hoptown, which fell to 20-8. Brennan Mealer also had a home run for the Hoppers. 

The Flash improved to 22-9.  

Hoptown is scheduled to go to Hendersonville, Tenn., tonight to take on third-place Full Count at 7 p.m.
