A Hopkinsville man was charged with third-degree criminal abuse on Sunday after a small child in his care was reportedly found walking in the street unsupervised and with no shoes.
Officers were dispatched to an area of West 13th Street where they made contact with the reporting party who was trying find the 1-year-old child’s home.
Around two hours after the report, 58-year-old David Selio of Hopkinsville approached officers and reportedly told them that he was supposed to be watching the child and did not realize the front gate to his yard was open. Selio was reportedly in back of the home while he thought the child was inside watching television.
The child was taken from Selio’s custody by DCBS.
