You know it’s summer time when the days are long and hot, folks are outside grilling, and Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation announces the headline musical acts for the Summer Salute Festival.
The announcement was made on WHOP Radio Thursday morning, as Program Coordinator Jacob Gibson and new Recreation Program Coordinator JR Davie unveiled that Friday night’s performances will include Hollywood Swinging, a Kool and The Gang tribute band and The 77 Experience, performing everyone’s favorite classic hits.
Then, Saturday night, Gibson says the opening act will be country artist Harper Grace, before Chris Janson takes the stage as the headline performance. He has several big-time hits, rising rapidly as a country artist through the charts, including “Buy Me A Boat” and “Good Vibes”.
Davie says all these artists bring their own sounds and energy to the stage, and it’s going to be a big party in downtown Hopkinsville on September 11 and 12. These concerts are free to attend, as is admittance to Summer Salute, but Gibson says you might bring some money for food, drinks or items.
Davie, while new to his role with Parks and Recreation, is not new to Hopkinsville, having been born and raised here and stays very active in the community. While he will continue to coach middle school football, he says he felt led to start something new.
Hanson is currently traveling across the country on his “Wild Horses” tour, but you’ll be able to see him for free, when he makes his stop in Hopkinsville for the Summer Salute. For more information, go online to hoptownsummersalute.com.
