Chamber presents awards, announces new board chair at annual dinner

Folks filled the Bruce Convention Center Thursday evening for the 137th annual Christian County Chamber of Commerce Dinner, where local history was spotlighted, awards were presented and a new board chair was named.

Before any awards were given out, attendees got to take a trip to the past with Local Historian William Turner and Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County Executive Director Alissa Keller. The pair and some of their peers spotlighted pillars such as agriculture, education, small businesses, industries, arts and culture, the military and nonprofits.

Turner and Keller compared the pillars to the roots of a tree and shared how they have fueled Christian County’s growth.

Following their presentation, Chamber President Taylor Hayes presented Keller with a $500 check to support the local museums.

Turning to the awards, the Young Professional of the Year Award was presented to Kristin Knight; the Bob Kelso Ambassador of the Year Award was presented to Ginnie Pruitt and the Presidents Award was presented to Bennett Greene, the current chair of the chamber’s board of directors.

Hayes presented the award to Greene and says her passion for supporting the chamber’s mission has been eminent in every aspect of her service.

To conclude the dinner, Greene passed the gavel to Landan Stallons the incoming board chair. Stallons says it’s an honor to have the opportunity to serve as the chair and is grateful to be trusted in the role.

Stallons will serve as chair through 2027.
