Awards presented, money raised to support Jeffers Bend at Benefit for the Bend

The Pennyrile Resource Conservation and Development Area Council hosted the Benefit for the Bend recently, where they raised funds to support the center and handed out awards.

Benefit for the Bend began in 2008 as an effort to provide more resources for ongoing events and maintenance at Jeffers Bend, including support educational trips for students, Take Kids Fishing, Naturefest, Christmas at the Bend and much more.

The evening included 150 items in a silent auction, plenty of food to eat and presentations that highlighted the numerous events and programs taking place at Jeffers Bend.

They also handed out some awards for the first time—the Community Service Award went to the Christian County Jail, the Special Project Award went to Leadership Hopkinsville-Christian County Class of 2024-2025, the D.T. Porter/RC&D Person of the Year was Gary Fromm of Hopkinsville and the Chairman’s Award was presented to Paula Gieseke, the art teacher at Christian County High School.
