Governor Andy Beshear announced that strides are being made toward medical cannabis being available to residents following its legalization.
Medical cannabis was legalized in Kentucky in January 2025, but work is still underway to get dispensaries, cultivation areas, and testing labs up and running. At Thursday’s Team Kentucky Update, Beshear says they have confirmed locations for 39 of the 48 initial dispensaries set to be established across the state.
Cardholders who want to find the dispensary closest to them can check out the dispensary directory at kymedcan.ky.gov.
Since the start of the year, Beshear says 10,000 residents have received medical cannabis cards and 15,000 have received written certifications from their doctors. Since many folks have their cards but no dispensaries are yet open, Beshear signed an executive order waiving the 2026 card renewal application fee.
The Pennyrile dispensary region consists of Christian, Todd, Trigg, Lyon, Caldwell, Hopkins and Muhlenberg counties. Mallard Club LLC in Oak Grove along with ARKY Capital Investments LLC, River City Relief House LLC and DPDMJF Cannabis Holding Company LLC all in Eddyville were selected for dispensary licenses.
