Hopkinsville Police arrested 23-year-old Teniko Dunham of Hopkinsville for assault after he reportedly struck a child on Friday.
According to a report, Dunham was looking after two children and when the mother came to pick them up she noticed that one of them had finger marks and knots on their head. The mother took the child to the Jennie Stuart Emergency Room where officers made contact with the victim.
Officers then requested for Dunham to come to the police station to give a formal statement. Dunham provided a statement and officers reportedly found that it did not match with the child’s physical injuries.
Officers confronted Dunham about the inaccuracies and he reportedly admitted to slapping the child because they would not stop crying. Dunham was charged with second-degree assault.
