To promote kindness this Valentine’ Day, the Pennyrile Area Development District (PEADD) is launching its “Spread the Love Campaign” which includes a pet food drive to support senior citizens.
PEADD Communications Director, Melissa Thompson says the campaign started among colleagues as a way to show appreciation to one another. However, they also wanted to get the community involved to show some kindness to senior citizens that may need support.
Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living Director, Jill Collins says they want to ensure that older people who may be homebound have what they need to take care of their pets.
Collins says pets provide companionship to senior citizens that may be living alone and along with food they are accepting other pet items such as leashes, toys and beds.
Donations are being accepted through February 12 at the PEADD Office at 300 Hammond Drive in Hopkinsville.
