The Colonels and Mustangs were playing for the district championship on Friday night at The Stadium of Champions. Both teams were 1-0 in district play after the Colonels beat Daviess Co. 12-10 last week and McCracken Co. beat Henderson Co. 59-57 the week before.
The Mustangs raced out to a 14-0 lead before the Colonels got on the board on a Zyon Wharton 10-yard run. After a Mustang touchdown Jayden Williams would connect to Zyon Wharton for a 3-yard touchdown pass to make it 21-14. It would be 35-14 at halftime and the Mustangs would go on to win 70-32 to claim the district championship.
