More than “Bragging Rights” will be on the line Friday night when the Hopkinsville Tigers and Christian County Colonels’ football teams meet up for the 58th time at the Stadium of Champions.
One of the teams will see a long losing streak come to an end at the conclusion of Friday’s game. The Colonels are coming off a bye week and are 0-1 on the season. They have lost seven straight games dating back to last year.
Hopkinsville is 0-2 after falling 51-28 to Mayfield last Friday and have lost five straight games going back to last September.
The Tigers are led on offense by quarterback Aiden King, who has thrown for 314 yards and six touchdowns this season. Artavius Moses has run for 100 yards and two scores on 17 carries and Treston Kay leads the team in receiving with nine catches for 135 yards and four scores.
Christian County managed only 85 total yards against Warren East. Zion Wharton was the leading rusher with 9 yards on one carry and he also returned a kick off 86 yards for the Colonels’ lone score. Josh Bridges led the Colonels in receiving with three catches for 27 yards.
Gates will open at 6 p.m. for the game and attendees must enter the side of the stadium they plan to sit. Hopkinsville fans will enter on the home side and Christian County will be on the visitor’s side.

The 1984 Hopkinsville High School Class 3-A state runner-up team will be honored at halftime of the game Friday.
The Colonels won last year’s contest 22-20 and lead the all-time series 29-28 on the field. Because of a forfeit by Hopkinsville in 1997, Christian County officially leads the series 30-27.
