Grand Jury returns indictments for drug, sex related crimes

A Christian County Grand Jury returned indictments for sexual based offenses, drug trafficking burglary and theft on Friday.

Dequan Cushenberry, age 29 of Hopkinsville, was indicted on charges of first-degree rape, unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual activities and distribution of obscene matter to a minor. The indictment comes after Cushenberry reportedly engaged in sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old minor in January 2020.

Jaden Johnson, age 18 of Hopkinsville was indicted on two counts of theft by unlawful taking of a firearm, second-degree assault and third-degree criminal mischief. The indictment comes after Johnson reportedly stole two guns from his grandfather’s residence and assaulted him when he was confronted for stealing in February.

Chermes White, age 22 of Hopkinsville, Gary Barker, age 30 of Hopkinsville and Anthony White, age 27 of Russellville were indicted on drug charges after Hopkinsville Police executed a search warrant on a residence at Woodland Heights Apartment Complex in March that allegedly yielded 1,100 Fentanyl pills, approximately one ounce of cocaine, US currency and drug paraphernalia.

Chermes White and Barker were indicted on charges of aggravated trafficking in a controlled substance, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Chermes White was additionally charged with tampering with physical evidence and Barker was additionally charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Anthony White was indicted on three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, having no vehicle registration and having an expired license plate.

Nicholas Wiseman, age 31 of Cadiz, was indicted for first-degree trafficking in controlled substance, first-degree fleeing or evading police, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving, having no motorcycle license and failure to register a motor vehicle. The indictment comes after Wiseman reportedly led law enforcement on a pursuit in March and was found possessing methamphetamine.

Donald Harris, age 41 of Hopkinsville was indicted on charges of aggravated trafficking in a controlled substance, two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of handgun by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana. The charges come after Hopkinsville Police executed two search warrants which reportedly yielded approximately a pound of suspected methamphetamine, 63 grams of suspected cocaine, 15 grams of suspected fentanyl, 43 grams of marijuana, a handgun and a large sum of money.

Charles Gamblin, age 18 of Hopkinsville was indicted on second-degree burglary after he allegedly broke into a house and was held at gunpoint by a neighbor in March.
